Description
Original 1903 home was built of rough cut lumber. It's rumored the 2nd story was added during the 1970s. in 2014 a complete remodel was completed, having fortified the foundation with a beam, adding 2 laminated beams to the main level ceilings which were restored to their original 9.5' height. Many of the main floor floor joists and wall studs were replaced, leveling the floors and squaring the walls as much as possible. The old stairway was removed and a new 4' wide one built, which allowed for a half bath on the main floor. Widened doorways & ceiling fans enhanced air flow. During the rebuild, the entire house was insulated with 1 1/2" foam core, in addition to fiberglass insulation, minimizing drafts & maximizing heating/cooling effectiveness. All new windows were installed, all new doors, as well as all new plumbing (including the sewer line), and all new lighting and wiring and a 200 amp service panel, garage & hot tub sub panels. All new bathrooms & kitchen with 42" knotty ash cabinetry. A 24 x 12 greenhouse was built on raised beds, and therefore a high canopy. The wood stove efficiently heats the home throughout winter and the two evaporative coolers, together with the thermostat operated attic fan cool the home effectively in summer. A large tool shed has workshop space, and its attached enclosure has the old kitchen cabinets a work counters for storing hardware and tools. A wood shed in the enclosed patio gives handy access during the winter. Primary heat is wood, with electric wall panel backup. The mudroom doubles as a pantry/laundry room, and has brand new sheet vinyl flooring. The solarium was once a covered porch and houses the 2nd evaporative cooler, so there's excellent climate control. Its ceiling also has extra receptacles for hanging grow lighting. There are cherries, pears, plums, apricots, apples, red lake currants, rhubarb, strawberries, and mulberries. There are also raised beds for asparagus, blackberries, and raspberries.
